Accelerated Courses for Abundant Choices

Attending college is the gateway to many wonderful opportunities. In a world with increasing demand on its students and professionals alike, graduating from college is viewed by many as a necessary step in obtaining meaningful, gainful employment.

The process of registering for classes and keeping track of credits can be intimidating, especially when the need for transfer from one school to another arises. Time commitment is another concern for many prospective students, but there are solutions that make graduation a more attainable goal than ever before for American students. One of these is the accelerated course.

Accelerated Learning – Hitting the Ground Running

For those who are looking to finish school more quickly or on a schedule that works with their own, accelerated courses are something to consider. Many universities now offer accelerated course catalogues with dozens or even hundreds of selections. Those interested in science degrees can find fifteen or more accelerated classes in their field at some of California’s top schools of health and science.

An accelerated course is any class which can be finished at an accelerated rate, when compared to traditional study. Many of these courses are available to take on weekends and evenings, making them easier for the modern, often nontraditional student to accomplish. Often available through online study, more students choose these classes every year to complete vital components of their overall education, quickly and easily.

Accelerated courses are fully-accredited and the credits obtained by completing them are fully transferrable, should a student find that they need to relocate.

Making a Move with College Credit

Even the best university may not suit a student’s needs throughout their entire educational career. Perhaps another school offers a program or concentration that their previous university did not, or another college is closer to the new home they’re moving to. Whatever the reason, many students consider the process of transferring credit during their college years.

Whether a student is looking at a transfer of science credits from Los Angeles to San Francisco or to New York City, there are rules and regulations that need to be observed. Typically, course credit transfers more easily between universities and colleges in the same state, but nationwide transfer is certainly possible. Students can increase their chances of a hassle-free transfer by taking the following steps:

  1. Observing and following all procedures carefully, and under the guidance of school officials.
  2. Contacting their university’s registrar’s office directly, to reduce the chances of things being lost in translation between schools.
  3. Preparing a supplemental transfer package. This is simply a gathering of all relevant information, including the student’s academic record, course catalogue with previous courses indicated and possibly syllabi included, as well as any letters of recommendation the student might require. This makes accessing these materials easier for the potential destination school, and keeps the mistakes and oversight of others from jeopardizing the transfer of credit between colleges.

With these steps taken, a student should see no issues when transferring credits between schools that have clearly indicated that they are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. Assuming both schools are properly accredited, the transferring student should have no problem applying their previously-earned credit to their new course of study, and receiving their degree in the same short order they originally planned for.

Just because life hands a student lemons does not mean that lemonade is out of the question. With an understanding of accelerated courses, transfer credits and their place in the overall academic toolkit, today’s college student can make their situation work for them and see a brighter future with their name on a diploma.
